Green Mountain Local Farm Program

Monteverde’s is dedicated to the distribution of locally grown and harvested produce.  Our Local Farm Initiative endeavors to link local farms and end users with high quality and fresh produce.  Our farms are expected to maintain Good Agricultural Practices, Good Handling Practices, and Food Defense protocol for food safety and traceability.  All packaging is consistent with the expectations of our customers.

  • GAP Audits will be derived from the USDA Good Agricultural Practices & Good Handling Practices Audit Verification Checklist:

  • All farms are required to maintain liability insurance comparable to their harvest needs.
  • Annual harvest reviews are conducted with farms to ensure the availability of a variety of produce.
  • Distribution lines are set up for a fresh and safe supply.
  • Marketing of the participating farms and respective products is made available to the customers.
  • Customer field trips are encouraged and scheduled for better awareness of harvesting techniques, yields, and packaging.
